Old Boy's debut documentary feature at The Picturehouse
From the OBA Website:
-------------
My name is Ng Khee Jin (Class of 78) and I am the producer and director of the documentary feature Feet Unbound. My film will be screened in Singapore at Cathay's The Picturehouse from 17 April.
This is how it works. The smallest hall is an 84-seater, the next is 130+, and so on. Standard ticket charges apply - $7.00 for Mon to Wed, $8.00 or $8.50 for Thu and $10.50 for Fri to Sun. Official public release is on 17 Apr. The first private screening is on Thu 10 Apr evening. You can pick your own date depending on availability of hall. I can also make myself available for Q&A after the show.
Feet Unbound tells the story of Elly, a young Chinese journalist, who embarks on a journey to retrace the route taken by the teenage soldiers of the Chinese Red Army's Long March from central Sichuan Province to the edge of the Gobi Desert. It features vivid and often heartbreaking accounts of survival by female survivors mostly in their 90s. It's an inspirational story about the triumph of the human spirit and a slice of little known but very important modern Chinese history.
This film was an all-Singaporean and some ACSian effort - including the music score by Kelly Tang (Class of 77) and performance by T'ang Quartet - their first film project! My DVD distributor is also an ACS boy! I'll be happy to answer any other questions you may have, kheej@iinet.net.au

37 Weeks, Photo Collection: The Armstrong Kitchen Remodeling Disaster
It's a collection of photos that's bloody hee-lair-rious.
I have no idea how to spell that stupid word. It never looks rite. Anyway that's the way it should be spelt, so there.
Excerpt from the article.
"Although the official closing ceremonies on the kichen remodel occurred a little over two weeks ago, it has taken Jon and me that long to realize that we have to go back to a normal way of living, to days not spent roaming the aisles at Home Depot and nights not spent scraping or crushing or painting or wiring, to mornings not spent scrubbing toxic insulation out of our pores. A couple nights ago when faced with more than ten consecutive minutes of downtime we suddenly realized I was pregnant, and that holy shit, we might want to buy some diapers or something. The kitchen remodel was a great distraction that way, and now that it's over we're sort of looking at each other like, do you know anything about babies?"

the sub arrives
NTU for the longest time had to deal with only 1 fast food joint, not within the main canteen, but the entire campus. only macdonalds for years. Until recently, this week marks the beginning of a new experience in chowing at ntu.
subway opnened its ntu outlet on monday, the 7th of april.
Was there before the opening and you can see from other people's blog sites, we (ntu) are are a sad bunch yeah ;-) there is much fan fare bout it. i did have a subway breakfast though, real nice. bout 4.90 bucks for a 6 inch with drink, 20 cents more than an mac muffin set. only no hash brown. but the egg and steak set that i ordered totally made up for it.
i've calculated that i can sustain a subway diet from now till my last paper or at least till my firs paper on the 15th. sustain in terms of finances, physical endurance and and taste sensational overload.
other chow branches opened up too but, old chang kee, canadian pizza and bigger but out of business macs. and some air con eateries.
